Topaz Photo AI

Topaz Photo AI released a new update, and I tested it with all the pictures I took over the weekend. The face recovery option is amazing—especially for group photos where not all faces are always in focus. The following video shows this new release in action.

In my opinion, Topaz Photo AI has become a mandatory tool in the arsenal of any photographer.

Why I use DXO PureRaw

It’s no secret that sometimes you’re forced to take pictures in less-than-optimal lighting conditions, which often results in what we call "noise" in your images. In recent years, with the rise of AI, many tools have introduced de-noising features. However, not all of them do a good job of removing noise effectively. If you’re interested in seeing how Lightroom Denoise compares to DxO PureRaw, here’s a video that shows you exactly that.

DXO PureRAW 5

DXO PureRAW 5 has been released. I tested it a bit, and the new denoising engine seemed a little too soft for my taste — faster, but soft. Still, it’s a must-have for any photographer out there. Combining DXO PureRAW with Topaz Photo AI for sharpening can result in almost perfect images.

Here is a video explaining the main differences in this new version.

DXO PureRaw

DXO PureRaw is my favorite Denoise tool followed by Topaz Denoise and Adobe Denoise, in this specific order. Next month DXO will be releasing DXO PureRaw version 5 and those who pre-order now they can get DXO PureRaw 4 and use it for free while they wait for version 5.

Those using version 3 they can pre-order version 5 and get a free upgrade to version 4.

Shutter count

The shutter count gives you an idea of how much a camera has been used this is why the question of how to find this number is one of the most often found in photography forums.

ShutterCount Mobile for iOS will reveal for you this number if you own any of this cameras:

You must connect your iPhone or iPad to your camera either via USB or WiFi.

I would not be recommending this App if I didn’t test it first specially knowing that you have to buy it first to use it. It worked with my Canon R6 (<8000).
